General cardiologist with special clinical interests in angioplasty & stenting, invasive cardiac imaging (Cath)

Dr Stephen Coxcompleted his cardiology training in Brisbane and spent two years in Boston, USA, at the Lahey Clinic. There he developed his interventional cardiology skills before returning to GenesisCare (formerly HeartCare Partners). His interests include the care and treatment of acute coronary syndrome patients, as well as structural heart disease.

Dr Cox’s cardiac catheterisation skills include acute infarct angioplasty and elective stenting, as well as the treatment of structural heart defects using closure devices (ie PFO/ASD/VSD and post-surgery paravalvular leaks).

Recently GenesisCare at The Wesley Hospital, in Brisbane, commenced a percutaneous aortic valve replacement (TAVR) programme. Dr Cox is part of that programme along with other GenesisCare cardiologists and the Multi-disciplinary TAVR team at both The Wesley and The Princess Alexandra Hospitals.

He consults at The Wesley Hospital and Clayfield in Brisbane, and visits clinics at outreach Kingaroy and Rockhampton. Dr Cox is a senior Visiting Medical Officer in Cardiology at The Princess Alexandra Hospital.
