Orthopaedic surgeons at the Wesley specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the musculoskeletal system, including both elective surgery and trauma. The Wesley has a broad range of sub-specialist surgeons who provide care across the spectrum of orthopaedic disorders.
The orthopaedic program encourages early mobility to restore function, which is achieved by use of an in-patient gymnasium, physiotherapy and, if required, in-patient rehabilitation. Elective surgery patients are encouraged to attend the pre-admission clinic in order to undergo thorough assessment and education in preparation for surgery.
Orthopaedic services include:
- joint reconstruction and replacement
- upper and lower limb injuries
- microvascular procedures
- sports injuries
- tumour surgery for bone cancers and soft tissue sarcomas
