Since 2012 The Wesley Hospital has run a comprehensive secondary school program to inspire students considering a career in the healthcare sector and are committed to identifying and inspiring the next generation of healthcare professionals.
The Healthcare Careers Day now offers Year 11 students a unique opportunity to connect with and hear from leaders across a range of healthcare professions. It offers a valuable educational experience and is an excellent launching pad for the healthcare workforce of the future.
During the day, students will be involved in a range of activities including:
- Presentations by and discussions with healthcare leaders
- Education sessions
- Clinical skills sessions with healthcare practitioners
The Healthcare Careers Day is designed not only for the highest achieving academic students, but also those who are passionate about a career in healthcare. Schools are encouraged to send students who will benefit from the opportunity to gain access to professionals from a range of healthcare specialties.

Clinical Education at the Wesley
While The Wesley Hospital provides exceptional patient care and a comprehensive range of clinical services across 35 specialty areas, it also runs a very strong clinical education school and the School Internship Program is now an important element of this.
Annually, at a tertiary level The UnitingCare Health Clinical School offers more than 1000 undergraduate clinical placements across all health disciplines and takes its responsibility of teaching very seriously to ensure a positive experience for the student as they journey to become a professional.
Based at the Wesley, The UnitingCare Clinical School has formal partnerships with The University of Queensland, Bond University, Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology, James Cook University, Australian Catholic University and Careers Australia College of Healthcare.
