Prof Allen is a Thoracic Physician and sleep & respiratory (thoracic) physician who commenced his practice at The Wesley Hospital in 2005. His specialty areas include sarcoidosis, medico legal, asbestos diseases, occupational lung diseases, and sleep medicine. His clinical interests include sleep apnoea, narcolepsy, periodic leg movement disorder, parasomnias and insomnia, and broncoscopy.
Dr Allen received his medical degree from the University of Queensland. He undertook post-graduate training at Austin and Repatriation General Hospitals, Melbourne and was awarded his PhD from the University of Melbourne. In 2009, Dr Allen was appointed Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences and Medicine, Bond University.
In 1982, he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He is a member of the Australian Medical Association, the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, the Australian Sleep Association, the World Association of Sarcoidosis and other Granulomatous Disorders, and La Societe de Pneumologie de Langue Francaise.
