Pastoral Care

The Wesley Hospital is committed to holistic care. Ecumenical Chaplains provide confidential, respectful support to patients, their families and staff in times of crisis. Visiting denominational Ministers/Priests and spiritual leaders of other faiths can also be contacted via Pastoral Care on (07)  3232 7204.

Visits: Chaplains routinely visit the wards and clinical areas. To call a chaplain, ask staff to call Pastoral Care Department on (07) 3232 7204. After hours or for emergencies, call The Wesley Hospital switch.

Chapel: The Wesley Hospital chapel, near Level 2 entry, is open for quiet reflection 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Worship Services: Short, non-denominational worship services are held daily at 10am in the chapel, except Wednesday (Catholic Mass) and Saturday (no service). Holy Communion is offered at services on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and, as requested, at the bedside.

Pastoral Care TV Channel: This broadcasts chapel services and, at all other times, relaxing music and meditative images, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

End of life care: Visits, prayers, anointing rites, and sacraments are available. A bereavement folder is available from the ward or Pastoral Care, after a death.

Bereavement support: An annual memorial service provides healing rituals for the families of people who have died.
