Associate Professor David Cavallucci is a General Surgeon with subspecialty interest in Hepato-pancreatico-biliary surgery who began practicing at the Wesley in 2012.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Queensland in 2001, Dr Cavallucci obtained his Fellowship with Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
After being awarded the FRACS in General Surgery, he undertook further training in complex laparoscopic Upper GI, Bariatric and HPB surgery at Concord Hospital in Sydney. He was accepted onto the ANZHPBA post-Fellowship program in HPB surgery and completed a year at the Royal Brisbane Hospital focussed on complex HPB, Bariatric and laparoscopic general surgery. He was offered a two-year fellowship at the University of Toronto, the premier HPB and liver transplant program in North America and internationally recognised as a centre of excellence in complex HPB surgery.
During these years of post-Fellowship training in Australia and abroad, working with leaders in the field, he was able to gain experience in:
He has presented and published internationally on gallbladder and pancreatic cancer including a book chapter, as well as on techniques for complex liver surgery. Currently, he is completing a Masters degree in Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.
Dr Cavallucci is a member of RACS, ANZHPBA and American Society of Transplant Surgeons.
