CLEM7 to become KIM7 for a day to support cancer care
Motorists who go via CLEM7 on Friday, 25 July, will be supporting The Wesley Hospital Kim Walters Choices Program during its annual Think Pink Week.
Transurban and go via network Group General Manager - Queensland, Wes Ballantine, said the CLEM7 would become ‘KIM7’ for that Friday, with $1 from every toll during 24 hours donated to the Kim Walters Choices Program.
“We are proud to continue the association between CLEM7, which is now part of the go via network, and the Kim Walters Choices Program, which provides a valuable service to people who are affected by a cancer diagnosis,” Mr Ballantine said.
“Drivers who choose to go via ‘KIM7’ on Friday, 25 July, will be helping to support a wonderful cancer care program which continues to assist thousands of people, and we hope motorists will embrace this initiative.”
The Kim Walters Choices Program Clinical Nurse Manager, Janine Porter-Steele, said Choices welcomed the support from Transurban and go via network as new owners of the CLEM7.
“Kim Walters Choices is a free service, funded and supported entirely through fundraising, the generosity of the community and corporate supporters,” Ms Porter-Steele said.
“We are delighted to have the support of Transurban and the go via network to transform CLEM7 into ‘KIM7’ for 24 hours during Think Pink Week.
“By taking the tunnel on Friday, 25 July, drivers will be helping us to continue to provide thousands of women, men and their families the ongoing support they need as they navigate their cancer journey.”
The Wesley Hospital Kim Walters Choices Program was established in 1998 in memory of the late Kim Walters, wife of former Brisbane Broncos captain, now Queensland State of Origin assistant coach, Kevin Walters.
The Program’s inter-disciplinary team of staff and volunteers provide free support services and information to all women, men and their families affected by breast and gynaecological cancer diagnosis. Services include access to specialist breast care and women’s health nurses, support groups, individual and family counselling, physiotherapy, a drop-in facility, national hotline (1800 227 271), and complementary therapies.
