Congratulations to 2015 Wesley Bursary Program recipients
Applications have been assessed and The Wesley Hospital is pleased to announce the selection of its 2014/2015 bursary recipients.
Wesley Hospital General Manager Ms Ann Maguire, left, said all submissions this year were excellent, and congratulated those selected to receive the financial assistance for further study and training related to the workplace. "Our panel faced a very difficult task and I'd like to thank all those who applied. The standard was exceptionally high and indicates the level of commitment our staff has to furthering their own career development and achieving hospital best practice," she said.
"This bursary program has been going for several years and the Wesley is fortunate, through the generosity of the benefactors, to be able to assist this professional development, supporting improved patient outcomes, clinical excellence and business growth.
"Our sincere thanks to all those benefactors who have helped make the 2015 Bursary Program possible.
"Thanks to these bursaries the hospital will now have representation at several national conferences in 2015. Some of our staff will be able to attend workshops and specialist training courses in the area of vascular, breast care and health information, and a theatre nurse will be able to undertake a tour of a hybrid theatre so we can benefit from their experiences to learn and apply best practice to our facility."

Barnes and Evernden Souter Foundation Bursary – shared by:
Jennifer Mountain,Clinical Nurse, Theatre, to cover costs of a visit to a hybrid theatre to observe hybrid set-up and study ways to improve business growth.Julia Brockett, Registered Nurse Endoscopy, to attend US Olympus conference, looking at latest developments for procedures using medical imaging equipment.
PACU and Anaesthetics theatre staff, for a workshop to provide training in complicated post anaesthetic recovery scenarios, conducted by a specialised external training provider.
The Wesley Hospital Professional Staff Development Bursary
Angela Withers, Occupational Therapist, Allied Health, to attend a lymphoedema training course to enable provision of care to inpatient vascular and breast care patients.
Quad Services Bursary Program
Fiju Jose, Coding Assistant HIU, to attend Medical Terminology course by HIMAA (Health Information Management Association of Australia Ltd)
J&J Healthcare, Rick Koziora & Evernden Souter Foundation Bursary - shared by:Declan Curtin, Clinical Nurse WEC, to attend international conference for emergency nurses in Brisbane.
Rachel Moodley, Educator 2E/4E, to attend the Cardiac Society of Australia and NZ conference.
Lynette Cribb, Infection Control Clinical Nurse, to attend the Australasian College of Infection Control & Prevention Conference in Hobart.
Catherine Gillam, Educator, Clinical Nurse Facilitator Breast Care, to complete a Grad Cert in Breast Care Nursing.
The Wesley Hospital will be calling for submissions for the 2015/2016 Bursaries in September/October this year.
