Sharing the light and love of Christmas

The Wesley Nativity scene

The Wesley Hospital has proudly unveiled a bright new Nativity scene this year, thanks to the generosity and creativity of a grateful past patient.

Liv Hutley, a talented designer, donated her time and talents to design and produce the hospital’s radiant new Christmas illumination, symbolising the meaning of Christmas.

“I consider The Wesley my family hospital,” Liv said.

“My Dad and I in particular have been regular ‘customers’. We appreciate the care we have received and so I’m delighted to give back,” she said.

A graduate of The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), Liv took The Wesley Pastoral Care team’s Nativity brief to the next level by creating a bespoke design that combines custom-made standing and hanging figures with glowing touches of starlight and colour.

The scene which was inspired by The Wesley’s colours and Chapel stained-glass windows, can be viewed in the foyer of the Chapel, which is located just near the hospital’s main reception.

Visitors are encouraged to pause for a moment’s reflection to write their Christmas hopes and place them at the foot of Jesus’ manger.

Pastoral Care Manager Leanne Duncan said, “As a faith-based organisation it is important that our Nativity scene, which represents the love of Christ birthed into the world, be prominent among our Christmas decorations.”

“The Nativity scene has been warmly received and within days of its installation, patients, visitors and staff have expressed their enthusiasm for the scene’s impactful scale, graceful simplicity and jewel-like vibrancy.

“Thanks to Liv’s kindness and generosity, we hope the Nativity scene will engage and inspire all who visit The Wesley this Christmas, and fill them with wonder and joy,” she said.
