Whether it is an accident or illness, or you know something isn’t quite right, a highly skilled paediatrician or paediatric surgeon is ready to help your child at The Wesley Hospital. We are the largest hospital providing specialist children’s health services to Brisbane’s northside community.
Family-centred holistic care is at the heart of our paediatric service, through comprehensive general paediatric and subspecialty medical and surgical services for children from birth to late teens, in hospital and as outpatients.
Our specialist inpatient services include major orthopaedic multilevel spinal surgery and minor interventional surgical treatment. We also offer additional services to manage oral food challenges for allergies, insulin pump insertion and management, and sleep clinics for children with sleep apnoea and other difficulties. Inpatient medical and surgical treatment is also available. Outpatient and day patient services include respiratory, gastroenterology and developmental paediatrics.

Paediatric and adolescent ward
Our family-friendly dedicated ward has 12 private rooms with ensuites, a children’s playground and areas for adolescents. -
Comprehensive care
Full-time paediatric doctors provide round-the-clock coverage with 24/7 Wesley Emergency Centre availability, and a safety and monitoring system to maximise best care. -
Paediatric consulting rooms
Our paediatric consulting rooms are conveniently located in the centre of the Main Hospital on Level 2.
Wesley paediatric specialisations include:
- Major paediatric orthopaedic spinal correction surgery.
- Diagnosis, treatment, support and advice on developmental issues with a special focus on children with developmental delays, learning difficulties, autism and attention deficit disorder.
- Treatment for epilepsy, headache, neuromuscular disorders, autoimmune diseases, movements disorders, behaviour neurology and a range of neurological conditions.
- Analysis and treatment of medical and behavioural sleep problems in children of all ages, including snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea, difficulties falling or staying asleep, and narcolepsy.
- The diagnosis and management of paediatric food and insect allergies, eczema and allergic rhinitis, as well as immunotherapy for environmental allergens.
Our experienced paediatricians and paediatric surgeons work with highly trained medical, nursing and allied health staff who are experts in caring for your sick child. The team comprises:
- Experienced nurses with post-graduate qualifications in paediatric nursing and fully trained in paediatric advanced life support.
- A dedicated paediatric nurse educator.
- Paediatric occupational therapist.
- Paediatric dietitian.
- Physiotherapists.
